Then the Rains came...

Contrary to popular belief, it does rain in the desert, turning dust to a quagmire of sticky mud.

The runners were lucky(?) enough to experience a desert shower last night, leaving the race director, Adrian Bailey, with a tough call. Adrian decided to alter the course to ensure there was not going to be any challenges in reaching competitors in the case of any emergency. So instead of camping at Eyre Creek, we'll be finishing today on the Eastern side of 'Big Red' sand dune (last night was the western side).
The new course is still the same distance, but access will be easier for vehicles.
The volunteers breathed a sign of relief too, as moving the whole camp across muddy camp sites was not a task anyone was looking forward to.
